headshot 4 2010 200To say that I am passionate about breastfeeding is an understatement. For more than 20 years it has been the center of my life. I advocate, coach, speak and even arm wrestle to educate people about the amazing power of breastfeeding.

While there are many studies about why mothers should breastfeed, I'm more interested in the intangible of WHY women breastfeed even when things are going horribly.  I believe it's because mothering our babies and children through breastfeeding helps us to be compassionate and loving people.

People describe me as resilient. I relish puzzles and patterns and I dwell in possibility. It is these qualities that gives clients hope, helps them to forgive themselves and empowers them to solve their problems.

I breastfed three exuberant offspring, including twins, who turned me on to the power of unconditional love. I found that breastfeeding fostered intimate knowing of three remarkable human beings. I didn't start out to be a breastfeeding superhero. That just happened because I did seek help and do everything possible to create a nurturing environment where breastfeeding was at the center of my mothering. To that end, I nursed my kids for a combined total of 12 3/4 years. (You can do the math. There's a lot of overlap.)

The letters after my name: I love to learn, though I prefer studying people, to merely reading the books

  1. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) 2010
  2. Certified Practitioner of Resonance Repatterning (RRP) 2009
  3. La Leche League Leader (LLLL) Leading in New Paltz, NY since 1998
  4. Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Alfred University
  5. I have studied Human Relations since the 1980's with Dale Carnegie Institute, Tony Robbins, La Leche League and others.

Here's what I am not: I am not perfect. I am not a doctor or nurse, nor do I play one on a daytime TV show! I am not a psychologist or social worker. I'm not a model or young anymore. I'm not a very patient mom, sometimes.

I try to live my life in a joyfilled way and I also cry a lot because I'm really sensitive. When I'm not working, I love being outdoors riding my bike, skiing, swimming and hiking mountains or cooking big dinners and sharing them with friends and family.

Not sure if we resonate? Here's who works best with me:
